Re: Virtual box Host-only network doesn't have a valid IP Co
Something that you did to the guest's networking is not right. I see that DHCP is not enabled, yet you have an address of 192.168.56.1 which is supposed to be the host's address! Did you change something manually?
The rest of the configuration seems OK. The network should be "Unidentified" and it should NOT have access to the internet. You either need "NAT" or "Bridged" to be able to access the internet, not as "Host Only".

Re: Virtual box Host-only network doesn't have a valid IP Co
actually the screenshot comes from the host (check the interface name), so the IP configuration is right. And the guest is backtrack, so a Linux-based OS.
As for backtrack itself, it is meant to use Wireless device, but Virtualbox only emulates wired devices, so you cannot use Backtrack in Virtualbox and your built-in hardware.
As socratis said : you must switch to NAT or Bridged mode to get Internet in the Guest, as Host-Only is to communicate with the host, ONLY. See Chapter 6 of the User Manual.

Nice catch about the interface name! But, from the Network Center portion of the screenshot, it seems that this is its only adapter.

Re: Virtual box Host-only network doesn't have a valid IP Co
There is no problem with your config, from what info you gave us. Backtrack will not work in a VM for Wifi unless you have a dedicated USB Wifi adapter you can use.
For the Host-Only, it is behaving like it should.
What about you tell us what you are trying to achieve instead?

In these forums we support VirtualBox. If you have questions which are not about VirtualBox then you should look for help on another site.
