Installing Windows xp2

Hii, I'm very new to virtual box.I am facing a problem when installing windowsxp2 on windows7 with the following message...."Could not read from the boot medium!system halted". Please kindly help me fixing this.

Are you sure you have an installation CD with a full Windows XP and not one with just the installer for SP2?

yes i downloaded OS from microsoft website and i burnt it in the cd....could u please tell me step by step installation..Thank you in advance

Are you sure about this? Microsoft has not normally made versions of Windows available for download (and it is certainly not free). What you can download are the service packs (three of them for XP), but you have to have Windows installed first, then apply these to it. What is the name of the file you have downloaded?

Give us the link for the file you downloaded?

And incidentally, ISO files can be mounted directly in the VM - in fact this is preferred. There's no need and no good reason to burn a physical CD.

I would sat that he downloaded SP2 for XP. The filename will certainly tell us.

As others have suggested, that is SP2 for Windows XP. It is not Windows XP with SP2.

If you are going to install XP, you will have to buy a copy of it from somewhere else. They are still available from some internet suppliers.
