Failing to restore snapshot - target vm missing a device

Hi folks,
I was installing Exchange 2013 on a server 2012r2 VM when that piece of trash Windows Updates decided my host was going to reboot itself automatically without prompting me to complete it's updates, so naturally the VMs shutdown improperly.

When I tried to spin up the VM it acts as if I am running a brand new instance and asks me to choose an image for installation, yikes! I made a snapshot before I started the install though, and when I try to start it and it gets part of the way to restoring it then fails with an error: imgur . com/eoa2gtB

Now, I am using a very simple setup, the only extra devices would be the guest additions, I suppose, or the network drive I had mapped to my host PC using the additions. It *was* mapped when I made the snapshot and the folder is still available, but perhaps the guest additions is damaged or something? Not sure what else might be the problem as I have no other usb devices plugged in or being forwarded, no optical disks in the virtual ODD, nothin, zip, nada.

Anyway, this line from the log seems to be the most relevant as the errors start right after it and since it is trying to load the guest additions THEN failing: imgur . com/eHSpphI

This isn't the first time I've run into this problem when trying to restore a snapshot and it's always for the same error, device missing on port 0; I am also fairly certain every failed-snapshot-restore where I ran into this problem had an OS with a drive mapped via guest additions so I'd like to get this fixed if possible.

I can provide the full log if it will help, just not sure where to host it.

Please note the screenshots are from an image hosting website however, VBox forums won't let you post links for a day (anti-spam measure I guess) so please remove the spaces to see the errors I am encountering
