Well, look at it this way: now you are saying 'why do you want to upgrade?' but if I showed up here with a problem, the first thing you would have said was 'did you try the latest version?'.
Been there done that. And as I use company's machine, I cannot afford luxury of having a spare system. Not that I can try VB in a VM.

Hello

I get this error with a new build using a quad core I5 running windows 8.1 64 bit and 16 of ram;

error says this install is only 32 bit, go install 64 bit version?

I am using the VirtualBox-4.3.6-91406-Win.exe for the correct download to run on 64 bit windows 8.1 correct?

I thought this download was for a 64 bit windows 8.1 machine

the VB loaded on my I3 laptop running windows 8.1 64 bit with 16 GB ram, so I am confused as to why it is not seeing 64 bit on

was trying to load VB 4.3.6 on Windows 8.1 64 bit with 16 GB memory

won't load says trying to load 32 bit version, need to use 64 bit version 4.3.6!!!

which is what I am trying to load in the first place!!

Yes virtualization is enabled in the BIOS

The SAME VB version works on my laptop with windows 8.1 and 16 GB memory :O!

Does 4.3.12 install?

There were issues with older version of 4.3.*

no version installs; ..none not current 4.3.12 or 4.3.6

if you try to install 4.3.12 you get the error that it is a 32 bit version and to use the 64 bit version; 4.3.6

states that specifically :O

The strange thing is both versions are included in the same download, and to be honest you are the first one that I have heard about that is having this issue. For some reason your PC does not recognize the install properly. Did you check the md5sum of the download?

I had great difficulty loading VB on my laptop. 4.3.10 on 4/20/14

It took me 2 hours and trying to get it to load, don't remember the reason

I think it kept saying this is 32 bit, go install 64 bit

how does one check the mod5sum?
I see the code on the website for the 4.3.12 version, but how can I find it on the download??

These kinds of problems that are reproducible should be reported to bugtracker. If you have not signed on to Bugtracker before you will need to select a new Nickname to be able to report issues.
It would also help if you can post the ticket number here so other can see the progress, add information, or see the final results.
