I am running OSX 10.9 Mavericks as my host and CentOS 6.5 as my VM.

My VirtualBox is 4.3.4 r91027 downloaded today.

Once I get Linux running and I use the ifconfig -a command, eth0 and lo show up but I cannot get an IP address.
I have tried using NAT and bridged and every possible array of configuration settings but I cannot get a network connection.

I think it has something to do with Mavericks now calling your primary network interface en0 instead of eth0...

I have tried using a few scripts I have seen on here as solutions but my copy/paste does not work in either bidirectional or host to guest or vice versa and
I cannot seem to install Guest Additions, how do I do that? I have no network connection inside my guest so I cannot update anything, no yum, nothing.

Is there a fix for this?

On my mac my NIC card shows up as en0, but only eth0 shows up on my guest. Is this an issue with VirtualBox or Mavericks?

Neither. Every OS names NICs its own way. Linux is not going to start calling the first NIC en0 just because it's running in a VM. If you ran a Windows guest, it wouldn't call the NIC en0 either. The name itself is fairly meaningless and has nothing to do with your problem.

Did you by any chance do something like bridge your wired Ethernet NIC when you're only connected to a wireless network? That would certainly result in guests being unable to get on the network...

Nope, I'm plugged into the LAN and wifi is turned off. I also unplugged my LAN and tried to bridge to wifi over en1 but I cannot get a connection.

I have even tried port forwarding ssh and www but I cannot get an IP address on my guest, no connection.

How do I install the guest add ons for virtualbox?

You have several issues which are not described in full detail so we can understand what you're going through.
1) Guest additions (GAs) with network connectivity have no relationship.
2) Install GAs by going to "Devices | Insert Guest Additions CD Image... (Host+D)". If the CDROM isn't mounted, look up the documentation of your guest OS on how to mount it.
2a) Run /<CDROM>/VBoxLinuxAdditions.run in the terminal.
3) Have you tried any other means of getting an IP address. Not internet connectivity, just an IP address.
4) Read this: Minimum information needed for assistance.

I just uninstalled VirtualBox and re-installed the new 4.3.6.

My host is OSX Mavericks 10.9 (13A603) with 16GB of RAM

My guest is CentOS 6.5 32-bit with 1024MB of RAM allocated and a 30GB virtual drive, fixed size.

CentOS was installed as Basic Server and no other packages have been installed.

I cannot install Guest Additions because that requires Dynamic Kernel Module Support (DKMS) installed on my guest and without network support I cannot add it with yum.

OK, let's focus on this one.Have you tried any other means of getting an IP address (see #3 above)? Have you tried HostOnly? Bridged? NAT? Internal? Are all of these failing? What do you have selected as your network adapter?

I have tried Internal, Bridged and NAT, and NAT with port forwarding.

Adapter Type: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540EM)

On Bridged I have the Network Card pointing to En0 and that is my wired card, which is plugged in.

I have also tried en1 which is my airport card.

Promiscuous Mode: Deny (have tried allow all and allow vms)

Cable Connected is Checked

I cannot use Host Only, I get the error Invalid Settings Detected

Why? No need to do that.

I think that something is royally messed up with your configuration. If you started experimenting with the network settings without fully understanding the implications, things can go bad. I can't think of any other solutions, so what I would do in your case is to quit VBox, delete (or rename) the "/Users/<username>/Library/VirtualBox" folder and start with a "fresh" installation. Including your CentOS installation...

So I have done a complete uninstall, cleaned up rogue files and done a fresh install, I have even tried three versions of VirtualBox.

However, it's solved: o_0

I decided to dig into my network settings and lo and behold the version of CentOS I am using has your NIC cards down by default until you setup a firewall, iptables or turn them on:

So simple:

ifup eth0

Dammit.

I am also having an issue with network connectivity and Mavericks.

I am running OS X 10.9.1 and I have created a VM and installed Windows XP Pro SP3 on Virtual Box Version 4.3.6 r91406. Everything works fine and I was able to even set up a shared folder between XP and 10.9.1 without issue. However, I cannot do anything internet related. If I attempt to open up IE, it tells me that the page cannot be displayed. I am able to use internet based programs just fine on the host side of things, however, so I downloaded the .exe installer for Chrome and put that in the shared folder. However, it gives me Installer error right after I double click the .exe icon.

I have attempted to set up Network Settings according to the guide I found on the forum using NAT instead of Bridged Adapter, but there is nothing in the drop down box for me to select. In fact, none of the options in the Attached to: drop down box work. I have even gone in and turned off my firewall on both sides and the issue persists. I've included a screenshot of my device manager as well as my network settings screen.

I do have Guest additions installed, too.

Any suggestions would be helpful as I am new to the virtual box world.

From the screenshot you provided you didn't use "NAT", you used "NAT Network". They're close, but not the same. Try with "NAT" at the beginning; it's the easiest and most reliable.

If you want to go down the "NAT Network" path, you have to go to VirtualBox preferences -> Network -> NAT Networks and add a NAT network. Read the manual for more information.
