So, I got an Acard ARS 2212 Mobile Drive Enclosure a bit back
and it was an absolute steal for the price, major issue being that the raid config software and SMART viewer utility does not Play Well wit win8. Wasn't too concerned at the time as it defaulted to raid mirror and it would still come up fine as a usb disk. But then I finally found a good price on harddrives and started thinking about options for administering it. So, one VirtualBox win7 install later, I happily install the software and find that it runs without any problem...
but fails to detect the drive!
My theory is that this is due to the driver used by VirtualBox renaming the device or otherwise modifying its info, thus causing it to be named something other than what the admin software expects. Any suggestions on how I can cause the device manager entry for the drive to keep the original name?
Another note; when I connected another USB drive it showed up in device manager and the vmware said it was connected, but it never showed up in the filesystem.
