USB capture on Guest boot

I don't use USB almost at all in my guests, (maybe once as an experiment, about four years ago). So, when a USB device is set to be used by a guest, and one gets the guest successfully using it, then the guest is rebooted, or the host and guest are both rebooted, will the guest automatically re-capture the USB device from the host without having to manually unplug/replug the USB device? (I'm thinking specifically about USB security dongles, btw.)

Probably not in Windows, but it might. You would need to set a filter for it in the USB section if you want to try.

Thanks, Perry. Sorry, Windows is the OS in question. I'd need to get hold of the USB dongle to test. Anyone know for certain if the guest will auto-re-capture an already-filtered-and-working guest USB connection when the guest reboots on a Windows host?

I had to try it to verify my understanding, but, if you simply reboot your guest, it will re-capture your USB device. If you turn off your guest, the host will capture the device and then you have to release it from the host and re-capture it in your guest.
