Extend VRam on windows host

Hi there,

I'm an everyday-user of VirtualBox and am really fond of it. It's a really usefull tool for web devs like me.

But I still have some troubles at some times. I'm working on my personnal computers (both laptop and desktop computer) with in both cases quite "big" video cards with respectively 2GB and 4GB Vram.

I've tried by editing my VMs properties to increase the VRam value beyond 256 MB, but it always ended in error messages :

Code: Select all

Invalid VRAM size: 1024 MB
I've seen that it's impossible to go beyond 256 MB as the error message tells it :

Code: Select all

must be in range [1, 256] MB
Is it possible to shunt, avoid or modify this top limit, considering that in my case it's not really a problem to give 1GB out of 4 for the desktop computer, and I think 512 MB for the laptop?

Thanks in advance :)

Extending VRAM size in the guest is pointless. The VM is a separate PC, it doesn't matter at all how much VRAM you have in host cards. The host does all the real graphics rendering (via opengl), so the guest has no use for more than the recommended amount.
