Getting a N600 wireless network card to work.

I'm trying to set up the Linux Backtrack operating system in a virtual machine so I can do some penetration testing on my home network. I wish to set up a password and security to protect my router so I can get practice for a job (And because I'm fairly paranoid). But of course to do penetration tests on a router I have to have a wireless receiver active on my computer. While currently I am connected through that network interface card, I still am unable to detect the card. I've disabled my Ethernet ports, taken out the cord and made sure to disconnect all other forms of network connections but every time I swing in to Backtrack and run the ifconfig command, it simply says there is a eth0 connection and that's all (Plus of course the typical lo for looping back.).

So I was wondering if anybody could help me troubleshoot my issue of getting my Virtual Box to run off of my N600 Dual Band Wireless Network Interface Card. Any and all information you need I can provide, I just simply need troubleshooting advice as I can't seem to find any information about this subject online. Thank you in advance for any useful information anyone may provide.

Don't use the VirtualBox network connection at all. Disable it and install the card to the guest direct. You will need to be using a USB adapter though.
