I've been using 4.2.18 r88780 for some time now without problems on my main computer, running LinuxMint on my Windows 7 host system.
I then recently built another identical system (Windows 7, same version of Virtualbox, same version of the LinuxMint ISO).
On this new system however, I can create, run, and then save the machine state of a VM just fine.
BUT....when I try to start up again a VM from a saved state, it first loads like normal...and then......the screen image just freezes.
What can be causing this?
Here is what I have tried so far;
- Made sure that I start Virtualbox as Administrator
- Made sure that Virtualbox has full read/write permissions in the folder where VMs / vdi's are stored
- Tried to increase or decrease assigned video memory (makes no difference)
- Tried to disable/enable 3D acceleration (thinking it would be a video card issue, but then why does the VM work fine before it is saved and restored?)
- Tried to increase or decrease assigned RAM (makes no difference)
And before you suggest I upgrade to the latest version of Virtualbox; The reason I downgraded back to 4.2.18 is that the newer versions caused problems even with the pc that is working.
Anything that can help me resolve this issue would be HIGHLY appreciated, as it is crucial that I get this to work for a large project that is already delayed.
Thank you VERY much in advance for all and any help!
