VM Encountered a Problem during reboot during Windows Setup

Post by gwardell »

HI,

Ok, I thought maybe the new version would solve the problem I'm having on my other thread. I don't know if it will because not I'm not even getting as far as the old version got.

During the setup windows reboots a couple of times. I wasn't paying attention so I'm not sure just how far it got but I got a pop up during one of the reboots that said virtual box encountered a problem and I should post the log file and screen shot. So they are attached.

Host: Windows Professional 7 sp1 64bit, 16Gb ram, Amd FX-6300 6 core CPU. (Although this version of VB thinks there are are only 3 cores.)
Guest Windows Professional 7 sp1 64bit, 2GB ram, 2 processors

VB 4.3.4 r9 1027, extension pack 4.3.4r91027

You should be able to view the png file, but if you can't it just shows that windows was still loading when the error occurred. This might have been the first boot since I had not yet set a user name and password and time zone.

So which version of Virtual Box should I be trying to use?

Or maybe I shouldn't be trying it with 64 bit windows?

Ok,

Guess what. On a whim I changed the processors to one and now it boots. Evidently VB doesn't like multi processors.

I wonder if that is related to the networking and crashing problem I was having?

HI,

I thought maybe it was the 64bits, so I tried a 32 bit guest. Still no go. This time it failed with only one processor selected.

Hmm,

My best guess is that it's a race condition. I don't know if it's something windows is doing or something VB is doing in response to what windows is doing.

I started the guest again and this time it finished the first boot after entering the user name, etc. The other time it had the unexpected error after the user name, etc.

Is this a retail version of Windows or a torrent download?
