VRDP Bandwidth

Hi,

I am connecting to VRDP on my Windows VirtualBox installation. If I connect over RDP to my Windows box, and access VirtualBox I am able to set the "Experience" to low bandwidth ... and have confirmed that it really is (56 kpbs setting, low color depth, etc.).

However, if I connect to the VRDP server directly (from the same client, same bandwidth settings), I don't seem to be able to set the bandwidth for low speed ... it always comes up in full colors, and uses a lot of bandwidth.

Is this a known issue? Is there a way to reduce / restrict the bandwidth when connecting to VRDP?

Thanks!

Should depend on the client you are using.

Agreed! I'm using Windows RTP (Remote Desktop Connection). When using Windows -> Windows, bandwidth is throttled nicely, but for Windows -> VRDP ... much more bandwidth is being used, even though I have told the client that I want low bandwidth (i.e. 56 kbps). It seems like VRDP is ignoring this.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I think that the Windows client works with the Windows server to regulate the bandwidth but is not compatible with the VRDP server and that could be your issue. I use Remmina and it does not allow for throttling but you can set the resolution down and it will actually use less bandwidth.

Will give that a try - thanks very much!

Dang - I don't see a version of Remmina for Windows ... :(
