Hi,

I have been using Virtualbox on my Win XP machine for a while and have installed Ubuntu 7.10, gosDesktop and Fedora without any problems. Then sometime last week, I start getting a RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE (0x800706ba)

Tried to re-install but i get the error even when I tried to install a new machine.

Anyone?

Thanks,
Kenny :(

I also get this error message everytime I try to create a new virtual machine and click [finish] in the Create New Virtual Machine, Summary window.

My host is Windows Vista Ultimate SP1.

Using Sun xVM VirtualBox 1.6.2

The complete error windows reads as follows:

VirtualBox - Error
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine mint.
Callee RC: RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE
(0x800706BA)

I have tried to run and also reinstall VirtualBox as administrator and got the same error.

Not that it's any help but I'm experiencing a similar problem when running VBox on Windows Vista. My error is slightly different:

Callee RC: Unknown Status 0x800706BA (0x800706BA)

Me too.
I started to get this error when my PC BSOD'd. I was running F15-F16 upgrade (fedora) and suddenly BSOD because of overheat.. after restart latest snapshot nor current image did not start anymore. I KNEW this would happen some day :D

EDIT:
Got it working. I recovered a "Fedora15.vbox-prev" -configfile, then got the broken F16 upgrade to start, it gace some kernel panics and did not want to load. Then I used "recover snapshot" and hot back to login prompt..
Only thing i did, was install somekinda filerecovery tool and recovered the only file i found for VM, i tried to search for older images but the file i mentioned earlier did the trick! *confused*

Howdy all, just figured I'd post this "solution" so everyone can be on the same page and Oracle techs and stop scratching their heads going "Why can't we replicate this error?"

It's simple really...you know that first window that comes up when you turn on Virtualbox? The one with all of your virtual machines listed? Yeah, that one.

Stop closing it before the virtual machine loads.

Seriously, that's all there is to it.

You're welcome.
