Guest Additions do not mount on Oracle Linux 6.5 guest

After upgrading to 4.3.4 on Mavericks, I went to each of my guest VMs to update Guest Additions.

VM 1 is Oracle Linux 6.0 Server with a GUI.

VM 2 is Oracle Linux 6.4 Server with a GUI.

VM 3 is Oracle Linux 6.5 Server with no GUI, kernel 3.8.13-16.2.2.el6uek.x86_64.

Guest Additions installed with no serious issues (openGL failed to compile) on VMs 1 & 2.

VM 3 is my problem child. While 'Devices -> CD/DVD Devices shows a checked VBoxGuestAdditions.iso', the disk is nowhere to be found when logged in as root.

Prior to 4.3.4, the drive was mounted as /media/vboxadd. The mount point remains, empty.

I've tried recreating the DVD/CD device in settings with no disk, then using 'Devices -> Insert Guest Additions CD Image'. Same result.
I've tried 'dismounting' (Devices -> CD/Dvd Devices -> Remove disk from virtual drive') then remounting as above. Same result.
I've tried every combination I can think of. :(

There's not a lot that the Guest Additions add to an almost headless install, but not having to press the home key to release the keyboard is one of them, GA also affects mounting host directories in the guest (though there are some host directories mounted even though the keyboard an mouse are captured).

DMKS is not installed in VMs 1 & 2. I survive. It was not originally installed in VM 3 under prior versions of VB. It is now, but is not configured.

Has anyone else encountered this and found a solution? My forum search didn't turn up anything that appeared to apply to the inability to _mount_ the GA disk.

Thanks.

You still need to mount it.

Code: Select all

Example: mount /dev/sr0 /media/vboxadd
