I recently upgraded my VirtualBox installation from 4.2 to 4.3.4. Before doing so, I also updated my Ubuntu 12.10 guest, installing all of the updates from Ubuntu, which included a new kernel version. After reinstalling the newest version of Guest Additions, making sure DKMS was installed properly, and deleting old versions of the Linux headers and VirtualBox config files to avoid confusion, I cannot seem to get mouse integration or screen resizing to work properly. The screen will not resize, the mouse will pop in and out of my X screen, but is invisible while it is inside the guest window. Examining my most recent Xorg.0.log, one thing that appears to stand out from the initialization is this:
Code: Select all
[ 19.350] (II) VBoxVideo(0): VirtualBox guest additions video driver version 4.3.4
[ 19.350] (EE) VBoxVideo(0): Failed to initialize the VirtualBox device (rc=-102) - make sure that the VirtualBox guest additions are properly installed. If you are not sure, try reinstalling them. The X Window graphics drivers will run in compatibility mode.
Though I do not know what is causing this error. The installation of guest additions appeared to go off without a problem. Any ideas?
