Take a look at Suggestions, about four groups down from where you posted this. I think I have read that Firewire support was requested.

So besides "lack of demand" is there any technical issue that's an obstacle to this? I would think there was some sort of "pass thru" to either the PCI bus or OHCI in the virtualization architecture. I know that now my host OS doesn't have to recognize a USB device to be recognized in the guest OS. I would think that FireWire would be simpler because the intelligence is in the devices and the associated drivers. I would think that to be a pretty much "hands of" solution to the developers (I know not really...) Has a technical explanation been offered besides outside of "no demand"?

What do you need something besides "no demand"? "No demand" seems a rather fundamental obstacle - easily sufficient to justify the absence of this feature.
btw, there is no PCI passthrough either, on Windows hosts.
