Virtual Box Manager ModifyVM ????

Post by EtherStreams »

I was the on line help file files to expand the size of a Dynaicaly Allocated VHD. I read the section "8.23. VBoxManage modifyhd" and I noticed my generic interface does not have the option to expand the drive. How do I work around that?

You enter the command at a command prompt in the host OS. On a Windows host you need to be in the Program Files/Oracle/Virtualbox directory for the vboxmanage command to work.

You may find it easier (and safer) to use CloneVDI to resize the disk. This tool has a GUI and as the name implies, it makes a clone and then resizes that, leaving the original untouched. The resized clone will be in the more recommended VDI format.

Don't do any of this if you use snapshots.
