In former times - precisely from VBox version 1.6 to 4.1.28 including - the guest-additions for OS/2 remained absolutely constant/identical.
Since starting with VBox 4.2.0 up to the latest 4.3.4 binaries changed with almost any new version. This is particulary annoying in OS/2, where installation/update of the additions is not so easy.
What is the executable "VBoxReplaceDll.exe" for (its not mentioned in the README)?
Will the interface host<->guest for guest-additions also change so frequently in future?
Regards and thanks for VBox,
Ingo
Will "guest-additions" stabilize again in 4.3?

That is because they didn't get built and remained comfortably out of date.ingo2 wrote:In former times - precisely from VBox version 1.6 to 4.1.28 including - the guest-additions for OS/2 remained absolutely constant/identical.
That is because the OS/2 Additions now get rebuilt automatically just like the Additions for other guest operating systems. You don't have to update them if the old ones work for you.Since starting with VBox 4.2.0 up to the latest 4.3.4 binaries changed with almost any new version. It's not changing any slower or faster. You seem to be making the mistaken assumption that because the Guest Additions binaries got updated, the interface must have changed in incompatible ways and the old binaries automatically stopped working. Will the interface host<->guest for guest-additions also change so frequently in future?

Thanks for your prompt answer and explanations. In fact for that reason/asumption I did not update VBox beyond 4.1.28. So I'll give 4.3 a try.michaln wrote: That is because the OS/2 Additions now get rebuilt automatically just like the Additions for other guest operating systems. One question remains:
What is the executable "VBoxReplaceDll.exe" (in OS2-additions) for?
(there is no documentation)
