Hi,
Environment information:
Host: Win7 64 bit, Asus Z87 Pro with Haswell i5 4670k. Virtualbox 4.3.4
Guest example: WinXP SP3
I have been trying to pass on some USB devices to my guest OS but none worked, I read that USB3 ports are not yet working so I went ahead and purchased a USB2 bracket and connected them to the otherwise unused USB2-ports on my Mainboard but even with those the host does not see the USB devices.
I have installed the virtualbox extension, activated USB2 controller on the host and created a filter, the devices do say "captured" automatically and are not mapped on the host system but they just never appear on the guest.
What could I be missing?
Thanks,
Q
USB2 ports not working
Re: USB2 ports not working
I'm not sure this is it, but did you check the device(s) from the Devices menu of the running VM?

Re: USB2 ports not working
1) What is the output of the command "VBoxManage list usbhost"? (you must be in the directory where VBox is installed).Questionario wrote:and created a filter
2) To your quote above... What are the values of the filter? The least values you fill in, the more generic the filter, so start with the Vendor ID and the Product ID only.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

Re: USB2 ports not working
@emu1: not sure what you mean by check but I do see them in the devices menu and those that I create a filter for automatically show captured once I start the host
@socratis:
The filter only includes VendorId and ProductId, the four characters in brackets of the below output (even before you said that)
Note that all USB devices are now on the USB2 ports which I purchased because I thought the problem is with the USB3 ports I used before but that didnt seem to be the (only) problem)
This is when no virtual machine has been started yet:
Once I start the guest it automatically ejects the USB device from the host and says the device is captured but it does not appear on the guest system (on both linux and windows hosts):
plugging the device out and back in once the guest system booted does not help either.
EDIT:
The output if I connect a device to a USB3 port does not look much different though:
