In 4.3.2 and 4.3.4 there is no "Ubuntu (64 bit)" option in the GUI, and the "Processor(s)" are greyed out. (This is almost identical to viewtopic.php?f=6&t=57871, except the maintenance versions did not fix the issue for me.)

I'm on a Windows 7 SP1 host, with a direct-from-manufacturer laptop (Clevo).

I was able to successfully install Ubuntu 64 guest in 4.2.20.

My host BIOS has no VT-x switch, but in 4.2.20 both "Enable VT-x/AMD-V" and "Enable Nested Paging" are checked for the Ubuntu 64 guest.

Post the guests log file (as an attachment ) of the 64-bit guest that you got to work with version 4.2.*

By the way the actual bios name is probably hardware virtualization.

I believe the log I attached is the earliest. Any need for later ones?

And after thorough exploration of the BIOS, I've determined there are no "hardware virtualization" options (unless there're places to look aside from the boot menu?). Maybe this is related to the fact that the laptop is/has NVIDIA Optimus?

The log shows that you have VT-x and that it is enabled.
Now post one that does not work with the new version of VirtualBox.
As well as a screen shot of the guests settings -> general -> version where it shows the normal and 64_bit or lack thereof.

Hi, I'm having what I think is the same issue as the original poster. Despite VT-x being properly enabled, I cannot create a 64-bit guest OS (namely Ubuntu). I had hoped the original poster would get back to this thread and help solve the issue, but it appears that she is MIA.

I'm not at the computer right now that I'm having the problem on, but if you give me directions on which logs to post and how exactly to get them I will do so tonight. I'm running VBox 4.3.4 on Windows 7 SP1 64 bit BTW.

Basically I need to see a guest log of a working guests and one of the Ubuntu guests.

Also see below:
1) 64-bit guests need hardware-virtualzation enabled in the hosts bios.
2) when creating the 64-bit guest you must select 64-bit.
3) If running Windows as host you must make sure hyper-v or xp mode is not enabled on the host. MS does not play well and wants it all.

Nevermind my post, virtualization was under security in the bios, now that its on, working fine, more than 1 processor, made mine work
