Cannot install Extension Pack

Post by forbes2000 »

Hi,

When I try to install the extension pack with a fresh install of 4.3.4, I get this error.
Failed to install the Extension Pack C:/Users/L'Arche Office/Downloads/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.3.4-91027.vbox-extpack.

The installer failed with exit code 1: .

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: ExtPackManager
Interface: IExtPackManager {3295e6ce-b051-47b2-9514-2c588bfe7554}

When I try VBoxManage Ext Cleanup, I get the attached error.

Any ideas how I can get the extension pack installed so that I can use VB?

Try moving the extpack to a folder that does not have spaces or special characters in it.
If that fails then use the uninstall --force, then cleanup, then install.

That did not appear to work either-I installed the entire program, restarted, reinstalled into a new "non-space" directory, attempted VBoxManage:
(attachment)

and then attempted to install the extension pack from a "non space" directory.

Any other ideas? Perhaps I should just use an older version of Virtual Box?

I get the feeling you are missing a step or two.
1) uninstall --force
2) cleanup
3) install.
This is only done on the extpack, not the entire VBox program.

If this too fails then find the folder that has the extension pack that is already installed and rename it.
Try installing again ( from the GUI )
