Host OS: Windows 7 Professional
Guest OS: Debian 3.2.51-1 x86_64
VirtualBox: 4.3.2 r90405
I'm using shared folder to work with files in both host and guest OS.
I've faced strange restriction: I cannot create file with absolute path length > 241 characters.
It's very strange, since neither Windows 7 not Debian 3.2 doesn't have such restrictions.
Looks like it's a vboxfs "feature".
This restriction works only in shared folders vboxfs. On native Debian FS (ext3) everything's fine.

Re: Shared folder path name length restrictions
Does the fact that you use shared folders means that you successfully installed the guest additions in your Debian guest? If so, please reply to your own post with the solution and change the title of your original post to include the "[Solved}" keyword so that you can help other users as well...Igor Semenov wrote:I'm using shared folder

I'm afraid I don't have the answer to the limitation problem, but have you tried normal network shares (Windows SMB shares) to see if that works?
