As the title.
After using virtualbox for a while, I found there are so many snapshot, even I am confused. So I am wondering can I create a new snapshot and overwrite a existing one?

Re: Can I Create a snapshot to overwrite a existing snapshot
Let's say that you have the following scenario:
|- Snapshot01
|- Snapshot02
|- Snapshot03
|- Snapshot04
|- Current State
Let's say you're interested in Snapshot02 and Snapshot04. You can select any of the previous snapshots that you don't need any more and Delete it. In this example, select Snapshot01 and Snapshot03 and press Delete. The changes will be merged to the next available snapshot. The merge can take from seconds to minutes, depending on the changes between the snapshots.Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

I strongly suggest that you back up or clone your VM before beginning that.

why not just Clone the mess?
MenuBar Machine --> Clone ... after selecting the virtual machine in GUI
Best of Luck
