I am running Ubuntu 12.04 in a VB 4.3.2 on a Windows 7 host, all in 64 bits; guest additions are installed. I have set up two shared folders in the VB Manager with automount and I can see them in the Ubuntu file manager in the media directory. However, when I click on them to open I get "permission denied".
What to do?
shared folder problem: permission denied
Re: shared folder problem: permission denied
Thanks, Joining the group vboxsf did it. Took me a while to find out how to do this. I suggest to explain that in the help document as well.

Re: shared folder problem: permission denied
Why? This is a function of the operating system, not VirtualBox and varies depending on the guest.I suggest to explain that in the help document as well
