I tried to update VirtualBox at the start of November and haven't had it working since. None of my VMs would start. De-installation failed. Couldn't reinstall. Major faff. Have now managed to get VirtualBox installed and have given up on my old VMs.
However, now, on a completely new installation, I'm getting the "This Kernel requires an X86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU." error.
I'm running OSX 10.6.8 with an Intel Core 2 Duo. System Profiler reports "4-bit Kernel and Extensions: Yes" (I enabled it as a result of searching these forums, I've never had it enabled before and have never had problems).
Does anyone have any idea what's causing it?

In the VM settings, General, Basic, Version, change the guest type to the 64-bit variant.poiu wrote:This Kernel requires an X86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU.

It's because its a new option after 4.3.x.

Re: Kernel requires an X86-64 CPU...
Actually it has always been this way. Its just that some users register it as normal (32-bit) and edited the settings to allow for (64-bit) and that does not work since 4.3.*socratis wrote:It's because its a new option after 4.3.x.
