With all my previous VirtualBox installations on MAC OS X I have always had the problem that the upgrade cannot be done in one go. First one needs to run the uninstall script, reboot the machine and then start the installer in order to get the new version on. Is that the usual way to do it?
Cheers,
Patrick.

Re: Update VB version on OS X has never worked
Personally, I run Uninstall, then Install; never reboot.
I believe most users just run Install, then, if they have problems, Uninstall followed by Install.
Problems usually arise over major releases, like 4.2.x to 4.3.x, due to system and user interface changes.
Each to their own.

I on the other hand never did an uninstall, simply run the installer, overwrite the existing install and continue without rebooting. Not even once have I had a problem...
