hello,
my system fails to boot as it cant be attached due to a uuid mismatch. here is the error:

01:07:04.420000 ERROR [COM]: aRC=VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80bb0001) aIID={22781af3-1c96-4126-9edf-67a020e0e858} aComponent={SessionMachine} aText={No storage device attached to device slot 0 on port 0 of controller 'IDE'}, preserve=false
01:07:04.420000 ERROR [COM]: aRC=VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80bb0001) aIID={22781af3-1c96-4126-9edf-67a020e0e858} aComponent={SessionMachine} aText={No storage device attached to device slot 0 on port 1 of controller 'IDE'}, preserve=false

01:08:20.627000 ERROR [COM]: aRC=E_FAIL (0x80004005) aIID={29989373-b111-4654-8493-2e1176cba890} aComponent={Medium} aText={UUID {75f12308-5cdd-46b7-8207-6f937fc3a772} of the medium 'D:\VirtualBox VMs\Server 2008 R2\lab1.vdi' does not match the value {f017bfc2-84cd-4b88-89cb-476a139d0571} stored in the media registry ('C:\Users\epasho/.VirtualBox\VirtualBox.xml')}, preserve=false

The UUID was changed in order to increase the disk size but that did not work either so i am stuck with a faulty disk
any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks

Remove the Disk from the known Disk list in the Media Manager, then try again to add it.

If it shows up in the list it means you did not remove it from the Media Manager.

It should be possible to just attach the new vdi in Storage Settings of the VM.

It is, but since you changed the hard disk without telling Virtualbox properly about it, it is now not letting you so there are no mistakes.
You need to manually unregister the old disk prior to using the new one.

If you look at the screen shoot, i am trying to create a new virtual and use existing vdi. that's the problem cant reuse the vdi disk.

If the disk is showing as inaccessible then it likely the disk with the expected name and UUID has been moved or deleted since it was registered. You need to unregister it, and prior to VirtualBox v4.3.2, you need to shut VBox down for 30 seconds before trying to register another medium with the same name or UUID.

When you register media in VirtualBox you are saying "this is where you can find this disk from now on". It's up to you to keep to your side of that deal.

That's correct, i am able to remove storage setting but still detects the old setting...
How can i remove it manually? Sorry, i am very unfamiliar with the Virtual Box commands. Please be more specific.

problem has been fixed. All needed to be done was to set uuid to the old one like this:

C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox>VBoxManage.exe internalcommands sethduuid "D:
\VirtualBox VMs\Server 2008 R2\lab1.vdi" f017bfc2-84cd-4b88-89cb-476a139d0571
UUID changed to: f017bfc2-84cd-4b88-89cb-476a139d0571
