He,

since i have my new notebook with win 8.1 pro i cannot brigde my internal umts card to the vbox.
On XP under network adapter menu i was posible to choose my internal umts card. But now i see no entry for the adapter.
Was there an change in Vbox 4.3.2 or is this not possible anymore in Win 8 ?

I know that it works when im using NAT but i like to go online with umts .
I already tried to use ICS on the umts connection with share to the host-only-adapter, but that dont work.
Unter properties no VirualBox Bridged Networking Driver is installed for the umts card.

Is there any possibility to use the umts card without NAT.

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
Modem: Serria Wireless LTE/UMTS MC 7710

THX

Best Regards

If it's not a real NIC then you can't bridge to it. You can use NAT, or you can try configuring a proxy server - but that would require networking knowledge. If the card is seen by the host as a USB device then it's possible that the guest can use it directly, though that would rob the host of its internet connection - if the host was using the card.

Hey,

so i get the card routed via usb to the guest host. I can see the modem in lsus and usb-devices:

But usb-devices shows me an error:

After search on the system for the folder **/1-1/1-*:..., i found it under /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1 but no in /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/1-1.

Is there someting wrong with the kernel modul or with the driver?

best regards

Guest host? You are discussing either the host or the guest, please be clear which.

As to the error, I assume you need to install device drivers inside the guest.

I´d like to use the card inside the guest.
Vbox Guest drivers and kernel modul qmi_wwan are installed.
