I have a Linux Mint 15 guest in Windows, and it's virtual hard drive filled up (8 GB, I know, I'm stupid)
So I made a new hard drive with 50 GB and copied everything with GParted. So I then detached the original hard drive and booted. It shows nothing.
What have I done wrong?

Do you still have the original Drive?

As a wild guess, I'd say that you copied the partition instead of the whole drive. Hence the MBR and other boot info was lost.

Why did you decide to copy between drives? Why not simply resize the original drive? You can't resize VMDK (why choose that?), so you'll need to clone the drive to a dynamic VDI type before you can resize it.

I did copy the whole drive. That's not the problem.

OK, you are mentioning vmdk. Is that the file extension?

If so Don has given you the way forward. Clone the drive and save it as a VDI. Then follow the information below to resize the original drive.
