Installing guest additions.

Post by Ramoorthy »

Hi All,
Trying to install Virtual box Guest additions OEL 6.3 on Windows 7 Host.
Am not getting it through. Getting the following error.

/tmp/vbox.0/Makefile.include.header:97: *** Error: unable to find the source of your current Linux kernel. Specify KERN_DIR=<directory> and run make again. Stop.
Creating user for Guest Additions.
Creating udev rule for Guest Additions kernel module.

I did not get this error when i installed the OS for the first time. Getting this only now after couple of deletions & additions.
Any help would be very helpful.
Also detailed steps on how to use the Host internet in the guest OS would be very helpful.
Thanks.

Make sure that you have setup the public-yum repo in the OEL guest.
http://public-yum.oracle.com/

Then the following:
64-bit

Code: Select all

yum install dkms binutils gcc make patch libgomp glibc-headers glibc-devel kernel-headers kernel-devel
32-bit

Code: Select all

yum install dkms binutils gcc make patch libgomp glibc-headers glibc-devel kernel-headers kernel-pae-devel

Please help.
Thanks.

I got past the issue by following commands.
#yum update
#yum install gcc
#yum install kernel-uek-devel

I was able to connect to the internet after connecting the laptop to the internet physically.
Thanks for people who attempted to help.
