Before I begin ...... I have searched online and the forums but found no solution to my problem ......

The host is Windows 7 and has a TUP interface that is used by OpenVPN to connect to a remote network. I have an Ubuntu Virtual machine that I would like to connect to the remote network via the Windows TUP/ OPENVPN connection and connect to PC's on the remote network, lie in a Bridged mode or shared mode.

I have used a Bridged (and other) network interface connected to the Windows TUP interface as I would with the Hardware network card. I tried to ping the remote machines with no success. I also scanned the IP range. I also tried DHCP and changed various network options. No success .....

The network is Bridged to the TUP using the Intel T server driver. My Virtualbox is 4.2.8.

I know I can use OPENVPN on the Ubuntu machine to connect to the remote network but I would like not to do it.

Can anybody please help me with a solution, if there is one?

What you are trying to do will not work, simply because the tun interface is a tunnel and by definition a Point-to-Point interface. Long story short : you can't have several computers directly using a P2P interface.
Add to it all the VPN security (anti replay, anti man in the middle, etc), and you're toasted.

The only way proper to make this work is to enable IP routing on the host and set NAT on the openvpn interface so the traffic will be routed and NAT'ed (very important part). You will then create a host-only interface via Virtualbox and set the VM to use it via Host-Only networking mode.
This whole setup is quite difficult on a Windows host... If you really want to go down that road, I would more suggest a Linux host (if you can).

Please note that networking configuration, outside of Virtualbox settings, is not in scope of this forum.

As I was expecting ... this was not going to work. However, I will try your suggestion, although it is going to be difficult on Windows.
