I was one of the users with usb blue screen caused by some version of virtualbox. And I'm one of the many users that can't use devices with latest version.
Does anyone knows which old version had less usb issues?
I only want to connect iPad and usb sticks.
Also, is there any special cleanup I should do after uninstalling the newest virtualbox to install the old one?
Thank you.

"One of the users"? My memory must be failing me - can you provide a link to any such discussion?
Re: USB issues with newest virtualbox
Previous discussions of USB problems in version 4.2.18 causing BSOD and other errors aren't hard to find on this board...I posted one myself that was moved to bug reports area I think. If you are having USB issues, you need to go back to version 4.2.16 as I did. I uninstalled 4.2.18 and reinstalled 4.2.16 along with 4.2.16 guest additions. That resolved my USB printer attachment causing Windows 8 BSOD issue. Since I've seen USB "issues" posted here for 4.2.3, I haven't tried the upgraded VB yet since the BSOD really made me hesitant and I have yet to see some official annoucement that USB issues are "resolved".

Anyway 4.2.16 worked for usb sticks, I'm sure it will work for ipad as it should be the version that gave me no problems with iPad in the past, thanks a lot OmaSteak.

Search for OmaSteak posts or your own posts with the links the forum provides.
Also here:

and when looking for a solution in google I saw this happening to people outside these forums on other sites and some recent updates of old bug reports.
I only save history for some hours so I really can't give you exactly the pages I looked.
Anyway I haven't been able to test the ipad, but I'm pretty sure my problem is solved because I can use usb sticks now with the old version, that's all I needed.

Re: USB issues with newest virtualbox
Ah, so most of the substantive (not "me too") discussion took place on the ticket itself? That's why I missed it then (I don't moderate BugTracker).
On every new release there's at least one user claiming that this version crashes and the previous version worked great. That alone isn't memorable.
