Windows energy Saver

I had a Debian Linux running on a virtual box inside windows 7 os.
When I tried to upgrade from debian 6 to 7 i lost everything. I am experienced with debian, I have done this operation in computers that have debian as the main os. And I know all the procedures needed.
As I was away from computer some time - since this operation is long time - windows started energy saving mode and that crashed virtual box. So I have lost everything inside debian. Now I have to start everything from the begining

Should not happen. Virtual box should disable the windows saving mode to operate or something like.
