Very bad Win7 guest performance on 4.3.2 after HW+SW upgrade

Hi,
I'm experiencing a very slow performance on a Win 7 guest with VBox 4.3.2 and I'd like to know if it is a problem related to the latest version of virtual box on mavericks or something else.. I'll give you a bit of details.. I've just upgraded from mountain lion to mavericks but at the same time, before trying my VMs on mavericks, I've upgraded my MacBook Pro from a mid-2010 15" (1440x900) core i5 2.4ghz, 8GB ram, NVidia 256mb, 256GB Ocz Vertex 4 SSD to a just released late-2013 15" (2880x1800) core i7 2.3 Ghz, 16 GB ram, NVidia 2GB, 512 GB PCI-e SSD. Today I've reconfigured the old virtual machine (copied from the old MBP backup) in order to use 8 Cores, instead of 4, and 256MB of video ram instead of 64MB and started the Win 7 VM.. What I've noticed is a really sluggish visual experience, that I don't remember have had on previous MBP with mountain lion, even if it's hardware was slower than my actual MBP.. Can it be a performance issue of VBox 4.3.2 on Mavericks, maybe due also to the highest resolution of the retina display of my new MBP?
Tell me if you need further details. Hope to recover the lost performance, since I don't want to explore other virtualization' solutions because I like VBox very much.
Thank you in advance for any help!
