snapshot delete hung at 100%, now bad, how to delete?

Hi,
I have 9 snapshots, latest = A, next oldest = B, etc. I tried to delete B, it ran ok for a while then hung (no CPU or disk activity for 10 minutes) at 100% at "3/3". I finally killed the VirtualBox process. After a few error message and a few VB restarts, I was able to delete B via the GUI.

I can now restore to C which I can live with, but I cannot delete A (see error message below). How do I fix this mess? I don't want to take more snapshots while the snapshot chain is this corrupt state. I'm not willing to lose all my older snapshots.
