Hi,
I am running Windows 2003 Server R2 guest on Mac mini OS X 10.6.
I am able to listen to audio on the 2003 server, but i am unable to capture line in. I have tried both microphone and line in and aux, but nothing seems to work out :(

In settings i choose core audio and ICH AC97, but still not able to capture line in. I have connected an FM radio to the line in of the Mac mini, so i know there is sound there all the time, but not able to listen to it/record in in guest os.

I tried the same on my Ubuntu host, and there it works well! But i really need it on my Mac mini host as well.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi there,

I had a similar problem running virtualbox on an Ubuntu host with a WinXP guest. It used to work ok and then at some point broke, I assume after an update of VirtualBox or something on the host. I've not changed settings in the guest for a long time. Today I stumbled upon a workaround that might help...

I enabled "Remote Desktop" for the client, then start the machine headless from a command line

Code: Select all

vboxheadless -s <MachineName> &
and connect to it with an RDP client to localhost:3389, the guest was then able to record the microphone input. I don't know about line in.

Hope that gets you going too. Using the client seems a bit more sluggish through RDP, but I only need the mic input for VoIP web meetings so it's not too bad.
