How many of you use 10.6.x as their host?

Post by socratis »

I know that this is a question that a developer would ask, but I'm trying to get a feeling of how outdated I am with my computer. Things are quite supported so far, but a recent new addition to VBox (webcam passthrough) is not supported for my (understandably old) system. I could really make some serious use of this. So, how many of you (if any) are willing to make a "donation" to the VBox team (code, testing, actual money) to see if this feature can be implemented?

TIA, Socratis

Using 10.6.8 but just hit a wall. I love VB heaps, but if I can't use it, I just can't use it.

How do we go about kickstarting full fledge OS X support? As a Mac-based Net Admin, running up to date OS X servers as VirtualBox machines would be a dream & OS X Guest Extensions have been a long time coming... May be we could get those at least?

I would happily dedicate testing hours on OS X Beta or contribute to a kickstarter-type fund raising scheme.

I'm not saying that VirtualBox is not awesome. Just saying it could be even awesomer.

My primary machine is a OSX10.6.8 macbook. I would love to use it as a host, but I'm unable to start any VM whatsoever in it. I'm going to post a bug report tomorrow about the problem. If I could get VMs working under it, I'll be using it as a host.

If this were actual problem report, someone might be able to help you. As it is, all we can say is "that's too bad, it works for us".
