Windows.old issue

Post by Siem5512 »

After a lot of effort, I was able to get Windows 7 running on Vbox. The problem was, that when I wanted to play a game, (Battlefield 4) it didn't accept my Graphics Driver. After trying to install the Driver, it said the hardware wasn't compatible. I looked up on Youtube how you could make your Graphics Card working, so that Windows would understand it and you'd be able to install the Driver. The problem was that I had to go into Safe Mode, which I tried, but then it said I had to reinstall Windows. After trying to do so, I had to overwrite my current Windows with all installs etc. but it would save it in a map called Windows.old, which might be known by some of you. The thing is now, that I can not find how to get back into that though. I've tried everything as far as I know, but I just can't get the file back running, so I literally lost about 30GB of memory since I can't access it anymore. If any of you has an idea how to:

1. Get back to the Windows.old, just so I have my programs and such back.
2. Know how to get my Graphics Drivers running, my card is NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, the standard Macbook Pro one.

If you can't find it with the "normal" Spotlight search, if you can't locate it in the folder where your Virtual Machine is, try another little freeware gem called "EasyFind" by DEVONtechnologies.

VirtualBox is running a virtual hardware, not your actual hardware. There is no need to install graphics drivers for your virtual card, except the guest additions. Actually, you shouldn't install drivers for your actual graphics card.

As for your original problem with Battlefield 4, chances are that it will not run. It expects a high performance GPU and your virtual GPU is not good enough...
