Problem adding custom resolutions

Post by stefan.braem »

Hello,

I'm running Windows 8 using Virtualbox 4.2.18 (r88780). I'm only able to choose 4:3 resolutions, so I'd like to add some custom reso's.
I found a solution here: qwerty.meadow.se/wordpress/running-windows-8-with-wide-screen-display-in-virtualbox/
(please replace 'qwerty' through 'www' --> You must be a member for 1 days and have 1 posts before you can post urls.)

The problem now is that when I replace "Windows 8 test" through "Windows 8" (which should be the name of my VM), I get this message:
VBoxManage.exe: error: Could not find a registered machine named '"Windows 8'

Could anyone help me on this?

Thanks in advance!

You didn't use double quotes. You used a single quote. Multiple times ;). Don't Copy-Paste the webpage directly because it uses smart quotes (“ ”) instead of the appropriate double quotes (" ")
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
