Why VBOX never working?

I tried to install a plenty of different OS on virtual box without ever succeding once! (tried several versions of ubuntu, debian, solaris), well the SO installs, the HD is formatted etc. when I go to first boot, Desktop always fails to launch, I start in console mode, and there are ZILLIONS of tutorials explainin what commands to use.. Sudo that, apt-get someelse.. and no one of that tutorials works. Every damned tutorial, even about same versions of a distro tell different things, and doesn't work... I have the feeling that since I'm on windows host.. it is windows itselft preventing me to use Linux... have you any evidence of that, or there's just lacking documentation for VBOX?)

Why does not the site provide a step- by step tutorial for each exact version ?
I don't think the way to go is to continuosly posting user's log files and then troubleshooting :/ that's ways too long, isn't simpler maintain step by step guides? (oh ! theres a big manual page that is telling all and nothing at the same time, I know it almost by memory and still it doesn't help!)

example:

Virtual Box 4.2 + Debian 7.2: steps needed

Actually I Need Debian 7 for school. So If is there any tutorial that works (that include download links to a Debian 7.x known to work with a VirtualBox X version I'll be glad to use it). I have laptop with broken CD-reader, so I can't just install linux over windows.

Explaining exactly the steps and commands yo uare doing, with the exact error message (or screenshot of it) would help a lot. And I am afraid I must say that we also need the VM log file.
I have a lot of VMs with Debian 7 installed, both on Linux or Windows hosts, and I never had any issues, even with graphical environment. So there must be something you're not doing right. We just need to figure out what.
