Preview visible but guest is black - solved!

I am running Mavericks and haven't had any trouble with this Windows XP VM before.
Now, when I start it, the whole thing is visible (Windows starts normally) in the preview window in the VirtualBox manager, but the main guest window (VM window) is just black, and any mouseover just gets the spinning cursor.

There is nothing unusual I can find in the logs.

Any help is appreciated.

Problem solved!
I uninstalled 4.3 and went back to 4.2 and everything is working.
Hopefully this helps someone else out.
