Virtualbox CD insert notification trouble with SATA CD

I took a Fedora VM and added an IDE interface (in addition to the SATA interface already present). When inserting a CD image to the SATA image, the guest does not see the insertion unless I do something for force an access to the CD. For example, trying to mount the drive will then generate a media change. On the IDE interface, when I insert a CD image, the guest immediately sees the insertion.

This is with up-to-date Fedora 19, Vbox 4.2.18 with 4.2.18 GAs.

Was this working differently before?

I don't understand what you mean by "before". It works correctly with the CD attached to an IDE interface. If I add a CD to the IDE and SATA interface, the IDE-attached one works correctly while the SATA-attached one does not.

If you meant previous versions of Vbox, I don't know if this is new to 4.2.18 or has been present for a while. I seem to remember this has been an issue for a while but I never took the time to look into it before.
