VBox 4.3.2 still slow

I've been successfully running Windows XP guest on a Mac OS X system for several years. Host computer is a mid-2010 MacPro w/16 GB RAM running OS 10.6.8. The XP guest machine has 1 GB base memory allotted and 16 MB video memory. When upgrading to VBox 4.3.0, I had the problem of the guest machine crashing as others reported, so I reverted to 4.2.18. I tried VBox 4.3.2 when it came out, and although it was now stable, the guest OS was running very sluggishly, with poor application responsiveness and delayed screen refresh. VBox 4.2.18 has no such problems in my setup, so I've again gone back to it.

It's nice to see the reminder ignored.

Its readily reproducible if you were to even bother, basically any 32bit guests on a 64bit host become exceedingly sluggish during the boot phase which actually leads to the host being sluggish as well,

64bit guests cannot replicate the issue.

Looking at the logs, Vbox is treating the XP vm setting as a 64bit guest O.o

It's an XP-related issue, when you have SMP enabled. Have a look on the thread named "WinXP Guest Performance on 4.3.2 - Partial Fix", sorry I can't post urls yet.
