I have had this problem several times. I think it's caused by screensaver or power saving policy. After some time, my guest Fedora would go into a small black screen (text mode). At this time, sending it CTRL+ALT+DEL won't wake it up. I guess the keyboard has already stopped functioning then. If I try to close the VM and select 'Send the shutdown signal', the graphic mode restores and the unlock window appears. But I am still not able to type in anything. Mouse works perfectly however.
I tried to RDP to the session using Windows mstsc, but keyboard is still not functioning.
Before I usually just forcibly power off the VM since the VM is just for testing and contains no critical data. But this time I want to get some help to if I can workaround this before they fix this.
Thanks!

Re: Help! Fedora guest OS keyboard not functioning
I always turn off all power saving in the guest. Screen saver is fine especially if you use blank screen.
Re: Help! Fedora guest OS keyboard not functioning
How connect to the console of Fedora so that I can properly shutdown the guest OS?
