Can't install 64-bit client

Using VBox 4.3.2 r90405 on Win 7 Pro.
Have unsuccessfully attempted to install Fedora(17, 18, 19) from iso's since installing the latest version of VBox. Existing Fedora 17 and 18 iso images residing on the hard drive were successfully installed under an earlier version of VBox.
Thinking the problem might be with Fedora, I downloaded a 64 bit iso of Ubuntu 13.10. Ubuntu wouldn't install either but at least identified the problem - VBox is presenting itself as a 32 bit machine. This is probably the reason the Fedora images wouldn't install.
The base hardware is a 64 bit, four core Phenom. I believe the VBox manual states that 64 bit clients can be run on 32 bit motherboards.
How do I get VBox to present itself as a 64 bit machine?
Thanks, Claude
