Discuss the 4.3.2 release

I'm not so sure that it is a Win/Lin feature. According to the user manual ( CLI only ) it is supposed to work with OSX, I have not found a section yet that states that it does not or is not supposed to work on a Mac in the (GUI) device menu. I do know that the Mac menus are different and wonder if you have looked at them closely?

Disclaimer: reason I ask is I don't have a Mac.

I read at the 4.3b release notes that webcam passthrough was supposed to be there, I started testing the betas. but as you can see it's not enabled even at 4.3.2. For the record, I have two webcams, the built-in one (FaceCam) and a USB Logitech C270 which is detected fine under the guest (Mint 15).

I have just upgraded my HP laptop where none of 4.2.18/4.3.0 works and this 4.3.2 is not working too...

I'm going to revert back to v4.2.16 'cause I'm really trired of this...

OK, yes, the webcam is available via the devices menu - but the display from it appears upside down inside the virtual machine! (which is Running Windows XP x86 SP3). Needless to say, the webcam works fine on the host (W7 x64). Also, is there any way to access the webcam properties such as contrast, exposure etc? Because whichever program I use to display the webcam inside the virtual machine, the only control I have is brightness. On the host, there are many more controls for the webcam such as those already mentioned.

The webcam shows up as "USB PC Camera-168" by the way.

socratis, webcam passthrough requires OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later. Your profile says that you use Mac OS X Leopard which is older.

Marko73, webcam properties such as contrast etc are not yet supported.

Not sure why you get an upside down image. Would be good to have some debug logs, please send me email to Vitali dot Pelenjow at oracle dot com if you want to help.

Crap!!! I'm actually at 10.6.8, but there was no option for that in my profile. I really hate anything greater than 10.6. Mainly because they took our Rosetta (among other things). Chances are that 10.6 will begin to be supported less and less...

Unfortunately Apple significantly redid the camera-related APIs in Lion. At this point in time, it's clear that we need to use the new APIs, whereas developing and testing additional code to support 10.6 doesn't sound like an effort that would pay off.

Now that Mavericks is a free upgrade for Snow Leopard users, you will definitely see developers dropping support for 10.6. I can totally see why people would want to stick with 10.6 (in my personal opinion, OS X started going distinctly downhill after that, though that's neither here nor there), but Apple is a take it or leave it kind of company

4.3.2-90405 Guest Additions for Windows

Something is up with the Guest Additions for Windows with the experimental 3D
option being grey'd out but I saw in another post there was a 4.2.? that worked but
I am ready to try something else...

doesn't anybody have an idea about the "check for update" ssl error?
to verify the problem i deinstalled virtualbox completely, installed version 4.2.18, where the update function works without problems.
installed version 4.3.2 over and the error comes up again.....
i read somewhere that with version 4.3 the update function was reworked to use ssl. so i think that's where the problem comes from.

does it work for you?

Were you tried to click that popup to enlarge it to full-size?
It should reveal the *do not show it again* checkbox which should allow you to get rid of it permanently.

I am using the "NAT NETWORK" Network Adapter.
I have found a DHCP SERVER problem:
IF
- DHCP SERVER is enabled in the file / preferences / network / nat network section,
- and NAT NETWORK is selected as natwork adapter for the guest
==> NO DNS values get forwarded to the guest

I've tried this several times on 4.3.2 running on Ubuntu, but the message continues to display after "Do not show this message again" has been checked. It's blocking UI elemnts in the VM itself so more than just annoying, would be great if the message itself had a close button.
