Setting up internet through a proxy

Post by Suegeuens »

Hi all

I am a real newbie, so please forgive my questions. I have a brand new MBP 15" Retina Display with all the bells and whistles. Have set it up with Virtualbox and Windows 8 Pro. After 3 attempts, I had to revert to OS X Mountain Lion as Mavericks is not yet working properly for me.

I connect at work through a proxy server to the internet and the MAC is connecting fine. The problem is in the Windows environment. I've got a message saying no internet access. I've tried to go through the 1000's of how to's, etc on the forum and the net, but am just not getting anywhere.

Is anyone able to give me a step by step beginners language process on how I get this working. I need the connection at the office as I access multiple databases which I now need to do through Windows as I have to use a BI tool called Qlikview.

Please help???

If you are connecting at a work place, then you should really ask your network/system admins of how you should set up Virtualbox.
The default networking mode would be NAT, or Bridged if you require full network features. Beyond that, it is not in Virtualbox scope anymore.
