[Solved] Two windows guests with network on mac host

VirtualBox 4.2.18

I have one windows 7 64bit vm that is working fine. The networking is setup as follows:

Network adapter 1: (Enable Network Adapter checked) Adapter type: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop, Attached to: NAT, Name: (blank)
Network adapter 2 - Adapter type: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desttop, Attached to: Bridged Adapter, Name: en1:AirPort

I create another windows 7 64bit guest, using the same settings, which I want to run concurrently. But the new guest has no network.

Is this something I should be able to do? I've created a zillion VMs with a variety of products. Not sure I've ever tried to run two VirtualBox VMs side by side on a mac though...

Thanks,

Joel
VBox-NoNetwork.log.zip
This is the VM that has no IP address
(12.57 KiB) Downloaded 4 times
VBox-NetworkWorking.log.zip
This one is working fine
(14.01 KiB) Downloaded 6 times

How exactly did you create the second guest? Did you clone your first guest by any chance? If you did, did you check the "Reinitialize the MAC address of all network cards"? Posting the VBox.log for both guests could help...

Thanks for the reply. The new VM was a fresh install from dvd.
Regarding posting the logs....new to these forums, is there a way to do that here other than pasting them into a post? They are kind of long. Is there a particular section that is of interest?

Sure thing. Look here for the instructions (hint: zip the logs). Minimum information needed for assistance.

Another case of RTFM. Thanks for the guidance. I've uploaded the logs.

Just in case someone reads this in the future, I "solved" my problem by checking "network cable connected" on both of the adapters for the 2nd VM. Not sure if (or why) this would be necessary since there is in fact no cable connected, and the first VM doesn't have that, but as they say "it works. don't question it."

There is no "physical" cable connected, but since this is a virtualization program you can simulate a cable. In fact I use it on all my VMs, where I have four network adapters (HostOnly, Internal, Bridged and NAT) and I connect/disconnect them at will.

Glad you could solve the problem. You might want to edit the topic subject and add a "[SOLVED]"...
