VBOX_E_NOT_SUPPORTED

Post by gwardell »

Hi,

Now what am I doing wrong?

Code: Select all

G:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox>vboxmanage modifyhd "L:\VBox\Win7 Delphi xe5\Win7 Delphi xe5.vdi" --resize 75
0%...
Progress state: VBOX_E_NOT_SUPPORTED
VBoxManage.exe: error: Resize hard disk operation for this format is not implemented yet!
But the manual says:
This currently works only for VDI and VHD formats, and only for the dynamically allocated variants, and can only be used to expand (not shrink) the capacity.
The media manager says:
Type: Normal
Location: L:\VBox\Win7 Delphi xe5\Win7 Delphi xe5.vdi
Format: VDI
Storage Details: Dynamically allocated storage
Attached to: Not Attached
I unattached it when I was having the other problem.

G:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox>vboxmanage modifyhd "L:\VBox\Win7 Delphi xe5\Win7 Delphi xe5.vdi" --resize 75
This means you want to resize to 75MB which can't be right since Windows requires a lot more than that just for the operating system

Right, I was trying for 75GB.

Ok, I redid it with 102400 and that worked. I went to 100GB.

Thanks.

But I think it would have been nice to for the program to tell me that I was trying to shrink the file instead to just saying "it doesn't work".
