mac vbox newest with maverick guest

I got past some other issues with doing this. After getting the image to finally boot after unhiding it. I got some text that same displayed ofdd things like errors then the main mac os x installer loaded after some clicks got the following which is false as it is from the ap store: this is not a supported method of installing the OS. Please run from the ap store. What am I missing?

This is odd I saw a reply and was able to get to it on my other system but now its gone over here. Something about a xbox reinstall. but that didn't work for me.

xbox? I assume you meant VBox. Posters can delete their own messages. If a reply was withdrawn then it usually means that the poster changed his mind, e.g. after rereading your post. Given the lack of background information or links in this thread I'm surprised anyone tried to respond.

I downloaded mac os maverick from the mac app store 3 days ago. I extracted out the 2 dmg files and then ran a program to unhide the one.
I updated my vbox to the latest version. I am running an imac from 2011/2012. Mac os lion
the dmg does mount in vbox and it goes into the 1st part a unix like mode. It does go past this but, it does display some odd things.
Then the mac choices come up. They say reinstall and 3 other things like time machine. I tried going to the disk part first and formatting my drive then going back to the reinstall and that's when it said: this is not a supported method of installing the OS. Please run from the ap store. What am I missing?

Are you trying to install Mavericks as a guest in Virtual Box?

Yes I am. Going from my imac to vbox mavericks for testing before I deploy.

You may want to follow the instructions for creating a bootable Mavericks install drive How to make a bootable Mavericks install drive before you try installing it in a VM, because the method you're using won't work as a boot disk.

I will try again. I did a part of that but unhid the dmg and used it as a fake disk.

Now that I have it. How can I get the video to go better. I set it for more MB but it only shows a bit and won't install iMovie. ALso no guest additions yet and we need a menu to insert force quit just like ctrl alt del. What other options should I range if any in the setup?

Go better? Do you mean faster? Or different display resolutions? Or something else?

For iMovie are you getting "Your computer’s video card does not meet the minimum system requirements"? If so, then that's because VirtualBox emulates a generic video card.

speed is good browsing in safari video flashes and browser crashed on some pages.
can video be changed at all

Also no audio.
Also couldn't use webcam.
There is no ext pack yet?
